It's my life - means Poles in Portugal

iPHOTO-myPHOTO –Comenius Project Meeting in Seixal, Portugal, 25-31 Maj 2014

Lisboa dream by Slidely Slideshow

The third meeting of Comenius Project iPHOTO-myPHOTO which unites six countries from Europe, including: Poland, Turkey, Lithuania, Romania, Spain, and the host of third meeting, Portugal, took place in Seixal, a locality near Lisbon among 25th and 31st May 2014. The Polish group, four students (Julia Niemiec, Michał Łaban, Marcin Nowicki, Teresa Sembratowicz) and three teachers (Mrs Elżbieta Felicka-Okrzesik, Barbara Bolewicz, Bogna Adamczyk) flew out of Wrocław at 5 p.m. (Polish time). After the change at Munchen airport, finally, we appeared in Lisbon at 22 o’clock. Our Portuguese friends had already waited for us and after hot greeting, we went to their homes. Then we could go to sleep and reclaim for the next day.
26th May, Monday Well, we couldn’t sleep so long, cause just at 8:20 we arrived to school. After the official greeting, we presented each other. Then, everybody came to see the school and the campus around. After that, the school choir sang and we ate some traditional food from Portugal (a biscuit made from French pastry, filled with pudding) and, of course, coffee and tea. Just after that, we’ve seen presentations about other countries. Beautiful trip on the old boat and delicious food on the board, took our next 2 hours. Then we took a walk to the Seixal Ecomuseum and Old Arrentela Main Church. At the end the parents of ours Portuguese partners took us to their homes.
27th May, Tuesday Again, we checked in at school at 8:20. When the teachers joined us, we could finally go to the beach. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t good. There were only something like 15 degrees and cold wind has just impaired it. But still, an opportunity to see the real ocean was just invaluable. After that, we get to the bus and in a moment we were near the next attraction. It was very, (I say it again to show how big it was) very tall monument of Jesus. The statue look just like this one from Rio, but I think it’s much taller! Luckily we didn’t have to get on the top of statue on foot...there was an elevator. After lunchtime, we visited The Tide Mill of Corroios and a library where the photographs of the students from each country were displayed. After coming back to school, we saw a presentation about portrait prepared by professional photographer. But well, it wasn’t end already. At 20:00 the fun just started. Traditional dinner with traditional food, dances and also traditional music performed by graduate of the school, were the best solution for the Tuesday evening. After that exhaustive day, at 23:30 we get back home.
28th May, Wednesday Another day in Portugal and another things to do! First we travelled to Sintra where we came to see a beautiful palace of old royal family. This big castle was surrounded by the dense forest. It just looked like a view from medieval movie! And so, the lunchtime took us some time, but just after that, finally, we came to Lisbon. In a beautiful Jeronimos Monastery (which is classifed by UNESCO as world heritage site) we saw a tomb of Vasco da Gama and we made photos for our project. Near that relic stays Cultural Center of Belem (CCB), where we have a lesson about some photographs in a museum. Then and after seeing the Belem Tower, we get back to our partners homes.
29th May, Thursday That day we started with a trip to Lisbon. Walk in a small streets of Lisbon is the thing that everyone who visits a capital of Portugal must see. And so, after fast lunch we came to the winery in Azeitao. There everyone could learn about the history of very famous wine, called Moscatel and also tasted it! Well...actually, only teachers were allowed to drink Moscatel, we just ate biscuits. But then it was only better. We came to “California Beach” (that’s how it’s called) and so, the weather was good, it was sunny and hot, so we could finally swam in the ocean. But then, we had to come back to our Portuguese homes.
30th May, Friday The last day in the Portuguese school. The last moments are always the best, so this day wasn’t exception. First we get to the same beach as on Tuesday, but today, again, we didn’t swim, cause it wasn’t very warm. And then everything happened very fast. Ending ceremony, last lunch and the farewell. It was really touching moment. Some of the students cried and everyone said goodbye to each other. Maybe we’ll meet one day, maybe even in Poland, but we hope to go back to Portugal again. Though it was the end of school activities, the Polish group and some students from rest countries went to Lisbon to buy some souvenirs and gifts. And then, we had to our bags.
31st May, Saturday That was the last day in Lisbon. We had a flight at 9 o’clock in the morning, so at 7:00 we had to be at the airport. Before that, we had said goodbye to our partners and theirs families and we flew away. Goodbye Portugal, goodbye Lisbon, goodbye our friends! One day we’ll meet again! After the peaceful flight and good trip by coach, we got back to Wroclaw at 21:30.
